Events

Middle Earth hosts a variety of events throughout the year that raise funds, encourage volunteerism, celebrate our programs or increase awareness for the agency. We hope you'll consider joining us - you can have fun and support your community at the same time! Our events are:

Tour of Somerville - Memorial Day Weekend

Tour of Somerville

The Tour of Somerville Cycling Series is an exciting four-day event of competitive cycling for professionals and amateurs that takes place every Memorial Day weekend across Somerset County. The event culminates on Monday with the 50-mile Kugler-Anderson Memorial Tour of Somerville, known as the "Kentucky Derby of Cycling." In addition to the races, there is food and entertainment in a family atmosphere. Middle Earth organizes the Tour to raise funds for our youth programs, but even more importantly, to demonstrate to the community, through our youth's volunteer efforts at the event, that our teenagers are a valuable resource.

You can learn more about the event at the Tour's official site: www.tourofsomerville.org.

Run from Winter 10K Race - March

Middle Earth hosts a 10K run through Duke Island Park on a Sunday in March. The event raises funds for Middle Earth and fills a void in the local area for races that are longer than 5K but not a half marathon. Prizes for top winners and t-shirts for all racers are distributed. Get more information by visiting our event page.

4H Fair - August

4H Fair

Every August, the Somerset County 4H Youth Development Program holds a county fair that recognizes the accomplishments of 4-H members and showcases a wide variety of 4-H projects in action. Under the big top, over 20 community organizations offer a wide variety of meals and snacks. Each year, Middle Earth hosts a burger stand with all the proceeds benefitting our agency.

Stars and Promises Holiday Concert - December

Peter Mayer

Middle Earth teams up with the North Branch Reformed Church and the United Reformed Church in Somerville to host a holiday concert. Peter Mayer, originally one of Jimmy Buffet's Coral Reefers, fronts his own band with a unique and eclectic sound.

You can learn more about the event and how to purchase tickets at this website: www.middleearthnj.org/starsandpromises/.

Corrigan Award Dinner - Fall or Spring

Middle Earth hosts a fund-raising dinner in the Spring or Fall to honor an outstanding community member with the Margery and Tom Corrigan Humanitarian Award. The award was established in 1994 and named after its first recipients, the late Margery and Tom Corrigan, who provided sustained commitment to Middle Earth and their community for over 25 years.
